New York Hotels Near Broadway

Of course, the “Big Apple” has an allure that most U.S. cities simply do not have, yet most people cannot tell you what it is that is so magical and mysterious about NYC. One of the most enticing things about going to Manhattan is the idea of walking up and down Broadway and, of course, seeing a show or two. While some people go to Manhattan to see the museums and to go shopping, many travelers want to go in order to see what really happens on the “Great White Way.”

New York hotels are somewhat more expensive than hotels in the rest of the U.S., but most travelers going to the city are prepared to pay more for their accommodations. Most travelers, even those going to NYC for the first time, realize that finding a place to stay in the city can be a daunting task. On the other hand, finding affordable accommodations is possible, even in Manhattan. If there is an area of the city where you prefer to find your accommodations, it is still possible to find something on the more affordable end of the price range that is within that location.

There are plenty of large New York hotels that are situated near major attractions such as Broadway and Lincoln Center. These larger hotels are often listed at prices that match their high-end addresses in Manhattan. On the other hand, there are a few smaller establishments within this area of the city that offer rooms at much more affordable prices than the larger corporate names. The key to finding accommodations in these smaller establishments is to plan your trip early by choosing your dates and then searching online to choose your accommodations.

When it comes to finding accommodations in NYC, the option of sorting New York hotels according to their locations is an important one for a lot of travelers. If you would like to be near the theater district, you will notice that the big corporate hotels are very expensive. If you are trying to meet a specific travel budget, you will want to look for smaller, boutique hotels with fewer guestrooms and, in most cases, without an elevator. If these features sound okay to you, choosing one of the small, privately run establishments will help you to meet your set travel budget while letting you enjoy all that the city has to offer.

Essen Travel at http://www.essentravel.com offers comprehensive searches for New York hotels. The website allows searches by price to find cheap hostels or more luxurious suites. A drop-down menu for lodgings near major landmarks narrows the search even further. Airfare and rental car accommodations are also offered on the site.

Stock Market Wisdom From Humpty Dumpty

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall;
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the King’s horses
And all the King’s men
Couldn’t put Humpty together again!

You know this tragic story.

During the 45+ years that I have been a financial advisor, I have seen this over and over and over again.

A new client comes into my office and asks me to review their old portfolio. Very often it is littered with holdings that make no sense. It might have been possible that each of those holdings was purchased for a specific reason at the time, but when put together it looks like a patchwork piece of cloth, a crazy quilt.

Investment professionals refer to this as a Humpty Dumpty portfolio. This is a portfolio that is broken beyond repair. Truly, all the king’s horses and all the king’s man couldn’t put this portfolio together again.

What’s the lesson here?
How can you avoid being burdened with a Humpty Dumpty portfolio?
And, if this does happen to you, what’s the best thing to do?

The most important lesson to be learned here it is that while it is important to trust your financial advisor, it is also very important for you to pay attention to your own investments. After all, it is your money.

It is important for you to understand that your portfolio should have some coherence. It should be something that matches your long-term financial goals. Your portfolio should not be populated by the latest “stock du jour”, recommended by your broker.
The main way to avoid the problem is to find a financial advisor who understands your goals and has the ability and willingness to help you reach them.

Lastly, if this has happened to you, I’m afraid you will have to swallow some bitter medicine. You might have to sell most or all of your holdings, and start over again. There is no sense in compounding a mistake into an even larger mistake.

Conventional wisdom states that your portfolio should be built upon a very strong foundation. This strong foundation should be comprised of high quality stocks and high quality bonds. The best way to visualize the construction of your portfolio is to visualize a pyramid. As we move up along with the slope of the pyramid, you might consider having smaller and smaller pieces of slightly higher risk investments.

Conventional wisdom declares that you should have the proper amount of diversification. Conventional wisdom is never the cutting edge. You may not to double your money overnight with this philosophy but you can be relatively certain that your money will be there in the future when you need it.

Conventional wisdom is generally right. Otherwise it would be called conventional stupidity.

I grew up in Brooklyn, New York. When this specific event happened, I was far away, on a business trip, so I didn’t see it, but I know a guy who knows a guy who did see it and he claims that Dumpty was pushed.

But that’s another story.

All you Need to Know to Find Wicked Broadway Tickets

Wicked is one of those rare Broadway gems which draws audiences from around the world. Only a few Broadway shows and production reach the height of which Wicked has found in New York. Popular musicals that reach such mainstream popularity often sell out quickly and tickets become difficult to find, as well as reach very steep prices. Wicked Broadway tickets can be obtained through many various agencies. Many times even popular shows can have discounted tickets if you know how to discover them.

Wicked opened in New York on October 30, 2003, at the Gershwin Theatre and ticket sales soared to hit box office records. The original Broadway musical has sold out show after show and many willing patrons have found Wicked ticket prices to be to difficult to find or out of their price range. If you know when you will be in New York it is always best to call the box office. Wicked Broadway tickets may be booked months in advance and if seats are available for the date you would like to attend you will have a face value Wicked Broadway ticket guaranteed in a safe manner. Weekend evening shows tend to be the tickets which sell out fast and end up costing up to three times the original cost. Monday and Wednesdays are the slower days on Broadway and matinees can provide an inexpensive ticket for a popular venue.

Broadway Theater box offices also release discount codes for almost every show in New York. Wicket Broadway tickets have these secret discount codes for certain shows and dates. The discount codes are available for savings from the theater direct or participating ticket sellers. The Internet provides many resources about these secret codes and many websites may guide you into the right direction. Picking a less popular day on Broadway you may also be able to find a half price Wicked ticket directly from the theaters box office. When a show date does not sell out or there are seats still available on the day the venue may decide to sell Wicked Broadway tickets at 50% in order to sell out the show. The only way to know if this will be an option would be to go to the venue a few hours early the day of the show.

Other Ways To Find Wicked Broadway Tickets At Discounted Prices

The Internet is a great resource for finding Broadway tickets. There are many forums, chat rooms and websites dedicated to small niches. Locating a New York Theater website or one which is devoted to Wicked fans can usually find you a ticket at face value or even less. People who share the same interest are often happy to help out a stranger who is in need. Simply post some messages around these forums and sites with an email. You may be surprised at how many people are happy to help you out with their extra Wicked Broadway tickets.

Broadway ticket brokers will purchase many tickets to popular shows and then mark them up to steep prices. The brokers can increase prices to unimaginable amounts for a profit on premium seating or sold out shows. Average seats for less popular shows usually run about 20 to 30% above original cost. Many Broadway ticket brokers offer promotional codes a digital coupons allowing the customer to receive 10% off on their full order. You still will pay above face value, but if you need Wicked Broadway tickets and are out of luck this will give you a legitimate ticket for the show.

Two other lesser known way to obtain Wicked Broadway tickets each have their advantages and disadvantages. Obstructed view seating or Partial view seats are tickets in which you will be able to sit inside the theater, however you will not be able to view the complete stage. Typically it is some of the theaters own architecture which blocks the view, the position of the seats or props from the production. These Wicked Broadway tickets are usually available for sold out nights on Broadway and offered at amazing savings. Standing room tickets are another known secret for Broadway patrons. These Broadway tickets provide a full view of the stage from a desirable section of the theater. You will be able to have a fantastic view of the full stage, perfect sound quality and the Wicked Broadway tickets will be heavily discounted. Of course the disadvantage will be that you will not have a seat and must stand throughout the entire show.

Wicked Broadway tickets may be some of the most difficult tickets to get your hands on currently. The popularity of this musical and the crowds of audiences which fill the Gershwin night after night keep prices very high. The production costs of the show and the salaries of the talented cast also make it difficult for the Theater to provide a discount. The supply and demand for these tickets keep Broadway ticket brokers prices at all time highs. With these simple and easy ticket tips you will increase your odds of finding Wicked Broadway tickets at possibly unbelievable discounts.

Any suggestioins for good and affordable restaurents in NYC?

I am taking some friends to NYC next March, and this is our first visit. I really need to know some names of good restaurants and suggestions for fun activities in NYC. We eat almost all kinds of food but not BBQ. How about the weather, is it going to be cold?

For a splurge that is a bargain, make a reservation for a pretheater dinner at the Four Seasons. If you are seated by 6 (reservation required) you can get a dinner with appetizer, entree and dessert for $65 a person. You dress up to go there, men jacket and tie, women suit or nice dress. 212-754-9494

Anyone know a Broadway or Movie Musical or other Upbeat song for two female voices and one male?

I need a Broadway or Movie Musical or other Upbeat song for two female voices and one male?
Desperate to find a musical number for two female and one male voice. It has to be upbeat, possibly Broadway, old movie musical or just anything at this point.

Hope you can help there are three of us scratching our heads here!

I can’t think of anything that is specifically for 3 voices but there is a song in ‘A New Brain’ by William Finn that is upbeat and comedic. ‘Gordo’s Law of Genetics’ it is a great song and might fit what you need. It may be for more than three voices but I think it can be arranged easily enough .
