Manhattan College or University of Pittsburgh and why?

I’m a physics (and astronomy) major and can’t decide between these two schools, manhattan’s small and pitt is huge
pitt has physics and astronomy as a major and manhattan just has astronomy courses
pitts also 8 hours give or take from my house, manhattan’s 45 minutes
they’re both the same price with financial aid and scholarships
thankss
i’m planning on majoring in astrophysics in grad school so i need some astronomy courses
and yes, i really want to major in physics.

Undergraduate Physics Majors should not take Astronomy except maybe as a single interest course for amusement. (This is the advice of the late astronomer Carl Sagan).

Both U of Pittsburgh and Manhattan College are good schools. Manhattan College is nationally ranked for Chemical Engineering and its other Engineering/Science degree programs are good.

Think carefully about whether you really want a degree in Physics.

What is the best way to get from a hotel in Newark to Manhattan?

My family is taking a trip to New York City this summer, and we’ve booked a hotel in Newark near the airport. What is the best way to get from the hotel to Manhattan?

If you’re hotel has a complementary shuttle service, you can take the shuttle bus to the Newark Airtrain station P4 and take the Airtrain, which is a monorail, from there to Newark-Liberty Airport train station.

Once at the train station, you can take any New York City-bound (eastbound) NJ Train to New York Penn Station. The one way fare from Newark Airport to the New York Penn Station will cost you $15 per person, per trip ($30 per person). The trip from the airport to the city take about 20 to 25 minutes.

I hope this information was very helpful. If you have any questions or need travel directions while in town, just drop me a line by clicking on the avatar and e-mail icon in the profile. I’ll be glad to help.

Good luck

What kind of money do succesfull clinical psychologists make in Manhattan and how many hours do they work?

I know that my fathers friend was able to buy a brown stone in Brooklyn for himself but he works constantly. What kind of money do successful clinical psychologists make in Manhattan?

To be considered seriously in that industry you most likely need at least an MA, but a PhD is probably the best thing to do.
One could either teach at a JC or college, or work in a company. Starting would probably be around 30k-50k (With bachlors) and then with a PhD most likely starting around 80-100k. After that the possibilities are endless.

What is the closest nice beach to Manhattan?

My boyfriend and I are going to be in Manhattan next week and we’d like to go to a beach one day. Neither of us have been there so we really have no idea what to do or where to go. We’ll be using public transportation and don’t want to spend hours getting anywhere. Does anyone have any tips on a good beach near Manhattan that wouldn’t be too difficult to get to? Any information is much appreciated. Thanks!

Fire Island – LIRR from Penn Station to Bay Shore (1 hour) and a ferry (30 minutes). You arrive in the town of Ocean Beach, which is a 5-minute walk from the beach.

What is the reasoning behind the Manhattan Project?

Why did the United States create the Manhattan Project and why did they bomb Japan? Why not Germany or some other place?

At that time, Japan was defiant and clearly expressed that they were not going to surrender (through telegrams and messages intercepted by the US). Germany was already, or almost at the point of surrendering. Japan was the immediate problem.

Also, if the bomb wasn’t dropped, the war would have lost much longer (I think the stat was about a year?) as America would have had to invade Japan. Thus, more soldiers would have died and the damage, costs, etc. would have been so much worse. I’m sure there are statistics about that on the web. So, you can almost say that the bomb saved lives.

Check out this youtube video (I used it in my English presentation):

And this may not seem relevant, but I think it’s good to mention. Many people think Japan did nothing to deserve the bomb, and America should say sorry for it. But before this, Japan annexed so many nations (Phillippines, China, Korea, Malaysia, etc.) and euphemized it as the "East Asia Co Prosperity Sphere." As a South Korean myself, I have stories from my grandmother about how Japan made them forget their names, forced them to speak only Japanese and forget their entire Korean culture. There was a group of S. Korean young women called the "comfort women," and the Emperor "gifted" these women to the Japanese to rape them. And many S. Koreans are upset because Japan is not admitting what they did, and in the text books, they teach that Japan was trying to help these annexed nations: http://www.life.com/image/800678. Another photo shows just a bit of what the Japanese did to some Chinese people: http://ic2.pbase.com/u16/nanking1937/upload/42195508.20054128491314.jpg

I hope that gives you some background. :)
